Since 1929 there has been the theory that any one person is inherently connected to anyone and everyone else by a mere six degrees of separation. We see this routinely as people we are acquainted with are inevitably linked to other people we know and it almost always elicits the response of, “it’s a small world!” Facebook is making the world even smaller these days, and has recently released that instead of the proposed six degrees of separation, they tightened that circle to 4.74 degrees of separation.
It should come as no surprise that the technology that is social media is drawing us in closer together, seeing as how we spend countless hours engaging in social media and finding more and more people to add to our social circles – whether we know them “in real life” or just their online persona.
